Monthly evaporation maps based on mean daily evaporation data for different stations are available. This data are useful for irrigation and water management at different agroclimatic zones. Theses information will meet the long standing need of evaporation data users like agronomists, hydrologists, hydrometeorologists, agrometeorologists, command area development authorities, irrigation engineers for various purposes ranging from irrigation scheduling to water balance studies.

Evaporation data from a dense network of 176 observatories have been used to prepare the climatological maps. Apart from data input from larger number of observatories, these maps are based on fairly long period averages (i.e. 12-26 years) of evaporation data and thus gives a much better idea of spatial and temporal distribution of the parameter. The maps presented are based on the averages of mean daily evaporation (mm) for all the twelve months (January,February,March,April,May,June,July,August,September,October,November and December),seasonal(June-September),and average annual total evaporation (cms).Evaporation is recorded twice a day from wire mesh covered class A pan evaporimeter.
