Answer:
Test question -- How to reduce cultivation cost ? Answer -- Costs of cultivation for major crops can be reduced in many ways like, Use improved soil and water conservation methods and soil fertility management practices. Use high yielding improved varieties and technologies of field crops, vegetables and fruits suitable for irrigated and rain fed conditions with pest, disease and drought resistance and quality. Use improved agronomic practices to reduce cost of production to increase the productivity of agricultural lands and crop productivity. Use plant protection strategies to minimize crop losses due to pest and disease. Cultivation cost reduced by using organic residues like FYM, Vermicompost & culture and thereby minimizing chemical fertilizer cost. Broadcast the sprouted paddy seed directly to fields which gives 15 to 20 % more yield and eliminates the cost of transplanting. Find out water requirement of different crops and suggest ways to increase water use efficiency. Develop the proper irrigation method including pressurized systems and ways to reduce seepage losses. Identify the alternate crops / cropping systems under limited water availability.
