On January 15, 2025, CR&S Pune held an exhibition presenting their weather and climate services operations. A brief documentary on "Expedition to Antarctica" was screened, along with a live display of meteorological and seismological instruments and a "Be a weather observer" portion that allowed pupils to conduct their own weather observations.
On January 14th,2025, Dr. Manoj Khare, Scientist G and HoD, HPC-ESEG Group CDAC Pune, gave a invited talk on "Climate Change Threat to Society: Solution for Natural Hazards" in honour of the 150th Foundation day of IMD.
The launch of 'Gram Panchayat-Level Weather Forecast' was graced by the presence of Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Shri Lalan Singh, Hon’ble Minister of Panchayati Raj, Dr. Jitendra Singh, Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology & Earth Sciences and Prof. S. P. Singh Baghel, Hon’ble Minister of State for Panchayati Raj along with Shri Vivek Bharadwaj, Secretary, Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Dr. M.Ravichandran, Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences, Dr. M. Mohapatra, Director General of Meteorology, India Meteorological Department, Shri Alok Prem Nagar, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Panchayati Raj and other senior officials from the Ministries of Panchayati Raj, Agriculture, Rural Development, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Department of Science and Technology (DST), IMD and other key stakeholders.
A MoU has been signed between the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) and Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) on October 30, 2024.The MoU aims to collaborate on the dissemination of weather and climate information, as well as agrometeorological advisories through the village level network of Krishi Sakhi and Pashu Sakhi under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (Day-NRLM), MoRD. It is collaborative initiative of both the ministries towards rural development and women empowerment.
India Meteorological Department (IMD), Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) in collaboration with Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR) has launched Gram Panchayat-Level Weather Forecast on 24th October 2024 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The forecasts will be disseminated through the Ministry’s digital platforms like Mausamgram of IMD and e-GramSwaraj & Meri Panchayat app of Ministry of Panchayati Raj.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between India Meteorological Department (IMD) and ITC, Limited, Agribusiness Div., Guntur on 16th Oct. 2024. Dr. M. Mohapatra (DGM, IMD) and Sh. Rahul Gouraha (Vice President-ITCMAARS, Agribusiness Division), signed the MoU on behalf of the two organizations in the presence of senior officials from both the organizations. The MoU aims to collaborate on disseminating weather and climate information, as well as agromet advisories, to 2 million farmers registered with ITCMAARS' digital platform.
